Our center has considering to use Contura catheter. We currently use the Mammosite catheter. I would like to request information on the pros & cons (if any) on the Contura Cath. Has the Contura cath improved pt care? Any information on your experience with the Contura cath would be helpful.

My hospital started with the Mammosite Catheter. However we currently see either the Contura catheter or SAVI device. The main difference between the Mammosite and Contura catheters is the number of channels for dose delivery. The mammosite is single channel, Contura multiple. The SAVI device is also multi channel. There is better dose distribution with multiple channels. Our nursing care is the same for all catheters. Recently I heard that the makers of the Mammosite catheter have developed a multi channel catheter but have not seen one.
